Jacksonville Green – Passive House

Passive House and LEED Platinum for new construction. LEED Gold for existing structure.

Jacksonville Green is the historic renovation of three factory buildings into 45 residential units and a new construction 40 unit building.

The apartments in the old factory will have lofted spaces and exposed structure expressing the history of the building. Amenities like a Gym, Restaurant and plenty of meeting and conference spaces are also planned. To meet the parking requirements there will be underground parking underneath three of the buildings.

This development will set new standards in sustainable design. The three historic buildings will be renovated to LEED Gold. The new building will be the first large scale multifamily building in the country to meet Passive House standard and LEED Platinum.

These standards will be met by including highly energy efficient building systems – geothermal loops, Energy Recovery Ventilation, instant hot water as well as a high performing highly insulated building envelope.

Because of the projects’ status as a historic tax credit renovation the exterior of the existing and new building has to be approved by the national park service.
